Deliver us from Mercy

A little over a week back, while the rest of the utopian world had already set off their fireworks at the end of 2008, Deliverance (13:15) saved their black powder until a later time. Just a few days ago they figured they would light some test firecrackers around the top 5 for land and the result was astonishing. Their little test, consisting of a 22 hit wave on Rage of Absalom (19:7) for just over 23k acres, managed to shake up the top of the charts considerably and launched Deliverance from the 4th place for land and propelling them 10k acres beyond Sanctuary of Absalom (12:13), who were up to that point in 2nd place.

Rage, being less prepared to war than Deliverance had hoped, did not pick up the gauntlet and left Deliverance’s attacks without retaliating. However, Deliverance did not have to wait long for the action they had hoped for, because their timed cease fire with Mercy of Absalom (10:12) was running out and Mercy wasn’t going to wait to fight on Deliverance’s terms. When the cease fire was done on the 1st of July YR7 they launched 5 attacks on Deliverance, which were met with 2 retaliations and a war declaration by Deliverance mere hours later:

Mercy sent their emerald dragon, which was started prior to the 5 hit wave, right after the war declaration by Deliverance, who in turn started and sent a gold dragon:

Deliverance managed to slay their dragon almost the instant it arrived and Mercy followed suit by slaying the one on their side a mere 4 hours after it started ravaging their lands. Both kingdoms started ruby dragons at each other after sending the initial ones, but did not fund these.

The Absalom kingdom knew that Deliverance would have a speed advantage in the end and would possibly gain an extra wave on them with their provinces that have the warrior personality. Mercy therefore designed their war effort to maximize gains at the start of the war while still chaining, this was to prevent Deliverance from using their extra wave to grab for maximized gains and walking away with a big gain in acres. This led to Deliverance chaining heavier than Mercy did at the start of the war and Mercy switching to max gains early on in the war.

Both sides put meteor showers on the opponent’s provinces and Mercy added greed to Deliverance’s big province’s worries. Mercy also managed to night strike up to 50k troops from Deliverance’s bank province, you twice (13:15). On top of that heavy land lusting was reported by both sides. Based on graphs on Geerts utopia info site, the utopian land rankings, and the estimations given by both sides it was estimated that Deliverance land lusted roughly 5k acres and that Mercy got about 7-10k from land lusting across the course of the conflict, with reported gains of 5-250 acres per land lust.

In the end this clash of the titans ended with both kingdoms slightly gaining in acres and Deliverance withdrawing from the conflict:
