Abstract

This article examines the mechanisms involved when overpopulation and/or starvation of a province occurs, including the penalties suffered, severity of effects, and times of occurrence.

Overpopulation of a province can be broken down into 4 distinct areas of effect:

1. Emigration
2. Rioting
3. Desertions
4. Restrictions on attacking and thievery.

Abstract

This report looks at some of the important mechanics of self-spells which have not yet been made public. The UtoLab team headed by myself investigated the duration of self-spells, the effects of exploding fizzles and their likelyhood to occur. It was found that all self-spells work with similar formulae, with their duration depending only on guilds/land, the given spells 'Duration Factor', and a random factor. A comprehensive formula for minimum and maximum durations was found with the limit at 20% guilds - Although with Mystics' Guilds counting for double that, they reach a cap at 10% raw guilds. Also the random factor was even and linear, an exploding fizzle occurs approximately 33% of all fizzles and kills 0.5% of your wizards, and you can still succeed spell at 0% guilds.

Abstract
The aim of conducting this research was to determine whether the first general sent in an attack adds a 3% bonus to offense. In the process, it uncovered many factors about the random factor which existance had also been in question. The research was performed by a variety of methods, including dedicated research provinces, and with 50 attacks closely examined which were then correlated with data provided by other researchers. It concluded that the first general does indeed give a 3% offensive bonus, and that there is a random factor in attacks with a 95% chance of success when sending 2.5% more offense than defence.
